Veteran Payment

Financial support for mental health claimants.

The Veteran Payment provides financial support for veterans who have lodged a mental health liability claim and are unable to work more than 8 hours per week while the claim is being assessed.

This is a temporary payment available during the claim assessment period. It is designed to support veterans who cannot work due to the mental health condition they are claiming for.

To be eligible, you must have lodged a liability claim for a mental health condition and demonstrate that the condition prevents you from working more than 8 hours per week.

Veteran Payment is subject to income and asset testing. Your financial circumstances will be assessed to determine eligibility and payment rates. Verify your financial eligibility with DVA before applying.

Contact DVA to discuss whether you may be eligible for the Veteran Payment.
